Dr. Burrer

Dr. Phillip Burrer is a family physician and founder of Valor DPC, a Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice bringing personalized, patient-first primary care to his community. Valor DPC will take a limited number of patients so Dr. Burrer can provide the best possible experience for his patients. Dr. Burrer obtained his medical degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and completed his residency in Family Practice at UMass Chan Medical School. He brings over 25 years of experience in primary care, urgent care, and telemedicine, serving patients of all ages.

Throughout his career, he has strived to put patients first and go above and beyond their expectations. Unfortunately, the current state of healthcare in America leads to patients no longer being a priority. To correct this problem, he has stepped outside the traditional healthcare model and started his own DPC practice. He has dedicated the rest of his career to putting patient needs above all else. As a member of his practice, you get affordable services, extended visits, telehealth, urgent care, or even house calls. Instead of navigating insurance complexities and fee-for-service expenses, you form a direct partnership with a doctor who has your best interests at heart.

MISSION: Restoring the Patient-Doctor Relationship

After over 25 years in practice, I have seen patients get exploited and pay too much for subpar care. The system is broken, and I refuse to serve a master who prioritizes insurance companies or accountants over patient care. My mission is simple: I want to care for people, help them, and surpass their low expectations of doctors.

VISION

My wife and I are excited to open a small Direct Primary Care (DPC) office just north of Main Street on Rangeline Road in Carmel. It will be just the two of us. Cheri will act as the nurse, medical assistant, and receptionist, while I will do the doctoring and try not to make a mess. We strive to be approachable, genuine and treat our patients like friends and family. As a small and new business, we will need our patients’ help to achieve our mission. We aim to have happy patients who appreciate a close relationship with their healthcare providers. We promise to work in your best interest and be there for you when you need us. We will be open, honest, transparent, and respectful.

Dr. Burrer founded Valor Direct Primary Care on the principle that patients always come first. As a member of our practice, you get unparalleled access to your doctor at an affordable price. Dr. Burrer has always dreamed of being a small-town doctor, working closely with his wife, Cheri, and forming meaningful relationships with patients to help them be as healthy as possible. He is thrilled to bring this unique opportunity to the Carmel community. We offer adult and pediatric primary care and urgent care to our members. If you need care beyond what we can provide in the office, Dr. Burrer will work with you to find the best care for the best price.

When you meet with Dr. Burrer, he will see you for as long as you need, when and when you need it. He offers same or next-day appointments, calls or texts directly with him, and little to no wait times at his office. You’re joining a practice where Dr. Burrer or his wife will greet you at the front door. To ensure we keep costs affordable while still providing exceptional services, we have not invited health insurance to be a part of this practice. It is widely understood that insurance companies often prioritize profits over your well-being. Having an independent practice allows Dr. Burrer to cater to your best interests instead of the interests of a corporation or insurance company.
